You can change the product sort order to sort by product description, SKU, barcode, product code, price, cost price, and last modified date. <\/p>\n<h2>Choose your product sort order<\/h2>\n<p>To choose how you want products to be sorted:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Log in to the Onsight web console at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sales.onsightapp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/sales.onsightapp.com\/<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Click on \u2018Settings\u2019 from the left-hand side menu.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the \u2018Configuration&#8217; menu item.<\/li>\n<li>See your present configuration settings in the General tab.<\/li>\n<li>Click the \u2018Edit\u2019 button.<\/li>\n<li>Scroll down to \u2018Product Sort Order\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>You can choose from Name, Description, SKU, Barcode, Product Code, Price, Cost Price, and Last Modified Date.<\/li>\n<li>Choose either \u2018Ascending\u2019 or \u2018Descending\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>Click the \u2018Save\u2019 button.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the app, after the initial install, products will appear as you have chosen. After that, users are able to choose their own product sort order. See <a href=\"\/user-guide\/how-can-i-change-the-sort-order-of-products\/\">How can I change the sort order of products in the app<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the web console, products will always appear as per your setting above.<\/p>\n<h2>Setting up a custom product sort order<\/h2>\n<p>If none of the existing product sort options work for you, you can display your products in a custom sort order. This is more work but it gives you greater flexibility and control over your product display. To set up a custom product sort order, follow the steps below. <\/p>\n<h3>Enable the custom sort option<\/h3>\n<p>To get started, the first step is to enable the custom option for product sorting.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Log in to the Onsight web console at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sales.onsightapp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/sales.onsightapp.com\/<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Click on \u2018Settings\u2019 from the left-hand side menu.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the \u2018Configuration&#8217; menu item.<\/li>\n<li>See your present configuration settings in the General tab.<\/li>\n<li>Click the \u2018Edit\u2019 button.<\/li>\n<li>Scroll down to \u2018Product Sort Order\u2019 and select \u2018Custom\u2019.\n<li>Choose either \u2018Ascending\u2019 or \u2018Descending\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>Click the \u2018Save\u2019 button.<\/li>\n<li>Click \u2018Save\u2019.\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Bulk update your custom product sort order<\/h3>\n<p>To access the bulk upload tool for custom sorting your products:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Log in to the Onsight web console at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sales.onsightapp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/sales.onsightapp.com<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Click on \u2018Import &#038; export data\u2019 from the left-hand side menu.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the &#8216;Products&#8217; menu item.<\/li>\n<li>Click on &#8216;Product sort&#8217;<\/li>\n<li>This will open up the 4-step\u00a0product sort import &#038; export tool.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Step 1: Export the product sort data<\/h3>\n<p>Click on \u2018Download\u2019. This step will download a list of existing products on your account with a column for \u2018Position\u2019 that you can use to force your custom product sort order. Once done, click on \u2018Continue\u2019. <\/p>\n<h3>Step 2: Change the product sort data<\/h3>\n<p>Open the datasheet on your computer. Each row in your spreadsheet represents one of your products. In the \u2018Position\u2019 column, edit the cells with numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.) to specify the order in which you want your products to appear in the app. Save the datasheet on your computer. Once done, click on \u2018Continue\u2019. <\/p>\n<h3>Step 3: Upload the new product sort data<\/h3>\n<p>Save your file. Click on the &#8216;+&#8217; button and select your saved data sheet on your computer.  Once done, click on \u2018Continue\u2019. <\/p>\n<h3>Step 4: Import the new product sort data<\/h3>\n<p>Click the \u2018Import\u2019 button to start the import process. Your data sheet will be analysed and validated. Once the import job progress is at 100%, click on either:<\/p>\n<p>\u2018For review &#8211; view and approve this job\u2019.  If your data sheet passes validation, you will see a list of updates that will be applied once you approve the import job. If everything is correct, click \u2018Approve Job\u2019 and your data will be imported into the database.<\/p>\n<p>or <\/p>\n<p>\u2018Failed &#8211; view the job\u2019. If the data sheet fails validation, a list of errors will appear, which you must correct before uploading it again. For example, if your position is not a valid number the import job will fail. Click on \u2018Cancel Job\u2019 and correct the data in your upload data sheet and then start at Step 3 again. <\/p>\n<h2>What to do for new products?<\/h2>\n<p>When you add new products to your catalogue, you can repeat the bulk update process listed above to allocate a position for each new product. Alternatively, you can just give each new product it&#8217;s own sort order number individually. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Log in to the Onsight web console at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sales.onsightapp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/sales.onsightapp.com\/<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Click on \u2018Manage your data\u2019 from the left-hand side menu.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the &#8216;Products&#8217; menu item.<\/li>\n<li>You will see a list of all of your products. <\/li>\n<li>Click on the name of\u00a0the product. <\/li>\n<li>Click the &#8216;Edit&#8217; button.<\/li>\n<li>Go to the &#8216;Sales Configuration&#8217; tab.<\/li>\n<li>Edit the &#8216;Sort order&#8217; field.<\/li>\n<li>Type in a number that reflects where you want the item to appear in the list of products.<\/li>\n<li>Click the &#8216;Save&#8217; button.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How are product categories sorted?<\/h2>\n<p>Product categories are displayed alphabetically. If you prefer to present them in a manner other than alphabetical, you can place &#8217;01.&#8217; , &#8217;02.&#8217; ,\u00a0 etc. in front of the product category names to force a specific sort order.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By default, products are displayed in alphabetical order in Onsight.
