{"id":139,"date":"2014-07-01T14:08:36","date_gmt":"2014-07-01T14:08:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onsightapp.com\/user-guide\/?p=139"},"modified":"2025-10-01T18:46:58","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T18:46:58","slug":"how-do-i-add-a-new-tax-type","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onsightapp.com\/user-guide\/how-do-i-add-a-new-tax-type\/","title":{"rendered":"How do I add a new tax?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To add a new tax rate:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Log in to the Onsight web console at <a href=\"https:\/\/sales.onsightapp.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/sales.onsightapp.com<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Click on &#8216;Settings&#8217; from the left-hand side menu.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the &#8216;Manage your data&#8217; menu item.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the &#8216;Taxes&#8217; menu item.<\/li>\n<li>Click the &#8216;Add Tax&#8217; button at the top of the screen.<\/li>\n<li>Choose &#8216;Single tax rate&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8216;Next&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the tax name.<\/li>\n<li>For &#8216;Charge Type&#8217;, select either &#8216;Fixed Value&#8217; or &#8216;Fixed Percentage&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Enter a tax rate percentage.<\/li>\n<li>Make the &#8216;Status&#8217; Active or Inactive.<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8216;Next&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Choose if you want this new tax to be applied to all existing customers or products.<\/li>\n<li>Your new tax will be saved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A tax group is when when multiple taxes are being combined into one, eg. state, county &#038; city taxes.<\/p>\n<p>To add a a tax group:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Log in to the Onsight web console at <a href=\"https:\/\/sales.onsightapp.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/sales.onsightapp.com<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Click on &#8216;Settings&#8217; from the left-hand side menu.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the &#8216;Manage your data&#8217; menu item.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the &#8216;Taxes&#8217; menu item.<\/li>\n<li>Click the &#8216;Add Tax&#8217; button at the top right-hand side of the page<\/li>\n<li>Choose &#8216;Group tax&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8216;Next&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>For each component tax, enter a name.<\/li>\n<li>For each component tax, choose a &#8216;Charge Type&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>For each component tax, enter a tax rate percentage.<\/li>\n<li>To add a new component tax, click &#8216;Add new component&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8216;Next&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Choose if you want this new tax group to be applied to all existing customers or products.<\/li>\n<li>Your new tax will be saved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To add a new tax rate: Log in to the Onsight web console at https:\/\/sales.onsightapp.com.
