Your sales reps then quote the right price for each customer. The order in Onsight also matches the order in MYOB. This article summarises the different ways you can link special pricing and discounting between Onsight and MYOB.

Where MYOB stores special pricing

MYOB has three places where you can set up special pricing. Onsight can work with any of them, all of them or none of them.

Item price levels. These are usually called Level A to Level F, or whatever names you chose. Each level has its own price for each product, and each customer can be assigned to one level. This is set up in the Selling Details tab for each item.

Quantity over. When you set up your item price levels, you can also store different prices for different quantities of a product. For example, the prices can go down as the quantities go up. In Onsight this kind of pricing is called Volume Pricing. In MYOB, this name is used for something else.

Customer volume discount. This is a percentage discount that you enter on the customer’s record in MYOB. This is a permanent discount that applies to everything that the customer buys.

The next sections explain how Onsight handles each one of these prices or discounts from MYOB.

Item price levels in Onsight

Onsight copies each of your MYOB item price levels and creates a customer group for it. It then puts your customers into the matching group. It also copies the prices for each group. When a sales rep creates an order for one of these customers, Onsight uses the group’s price automatically.

Quantity over prices in Onsight

Onsight has a similar feature called Volume Pricing. By default, Onsight does not copy the MYOB “Quantity over” prices into the Volume Pricing module in Onsight. If you need this, let Onsight support know. We can customise your integration to do it.

Customer volume discounts in Onsight

You can handle the MYOB volume discount in one of three ways. Onsight support sets this up for you.

Do nothing. This is the default. Onsight ignores the volume discount field completely. No discount appears in Onsight or on the order that goes to MYOB.

Apply the discount when the order is sent to MYOB. Your sales reps will not see a discount in Onsight. When the order is sent, Onsight looks up the customer’s discount in MYOB and adds it. The discount shows in MYOB, so the totals in Onsight and MYOB will be different.

Apply the discount as customer discounts in Onsight. Onsight will create a customer group for every customer that has a volume discount. The group is named “Discounts for …” followed by the company name. Onsight stores the discount against every product. The discount appears automatically when a sales rep creates an order, and the totals in Onsight and MYOB match.

With the second and third options, a sales rep can still change the discount percentage on an order line. Onsight then uses the sales rep’s choice and ignores the MYOB volume discount for that line.

Using price levels and volume discounts together

A customer can have both an item price level and a volume discount. In that case, they can belong to two customer groups in Onsight. One group is for the price level and one is for the discount.

Onsight applies the price level price first. It then applies the volume discount to that price. This works the same way whether the discount shows in Onsight or is added when the order is sent to MYOB.

Adding your own groups and discounts in Onsight

You can still create your own customer groups in Onsight. You can assign customers to them and set customer pricing and customer discounts for them. This is useful if you want to give your customers temporary discounts in Onsight. To do this, you can set up your own customer groups in Onsight and configure those groups to have discounts. Then allocate your customers to the new customer groups. The discount will appear automatically when a sales rep creates an order for those customers. Then, when your temporary promotion is over, you can remove the customer groups.

There is one limit. You cannot use your own groups to block a customer from seeing a product. The group from MYOB already gives the customer access, so the block has no effect.

Which option is right for you?

If you only want MYOB prices for each customer, use item price levels. If you use “Quantity over” prices and want them in Onsight, ask us about a customising your integration. If you want customer volume discounts on the MYOB order only, apply the discount when the order is sent to MYOB. If you want your sales reps to see the customer volume discount while they take the order, apply it as a customer group discount in Onsight. If you want to give your customers temporary discounts in Onsight, you can set up your own customer groups and configure those groups with discounts. There are many other possibilities.

Need to change your setup?

Email Onsight support at support@onsightapp.com and tell us which option you want. There is no fee for the customer discount options.

If you use MYOB, you can bring your discounts and special pricing into Onsight.
